Not that you asked...

I'm reading Andy Rooney's book Not that you asked... and the preface has already made me laugh. He wrote 100 things he's learned and I'd like to share some of the ones I found humorous or ones that I agree with and couldn't have said better.

9. Most poetry is pretentious nonsense.
17. A great many people do not have a right to their own opinion because they don't know what they're talking about.
27. I dislike loud-mouthed patriots who suggest they like our country more than I do. Some people's idea of patriotism is hating other countries.
30. I wish people spent less time praying and more time trying to solve the problems religion was created to help us endure.
31. It seems wrong for the United States to try to protect democracy by undemocratic means like overthrowing the government of a foreign country by undercover action.
32. A lot of people assume that we live in an orderly world where every event has a meaning and every problem has a solution. I suspect, however, that some events are meaningless and some problems insoluble.
51. People are too careful with books. If you like a book you ought to mark it up with a pencil. Publishers put too much money in the flimsy paper dust jacket on books. The first thing I do with any book that doesn't have my picture on the jacket is throw the jacket away.
55. It's too bad we seem to need six or seven hours' sleep. Someone's going to invent a way for us to sleep faster.
69. I'm always surprised when light bulb burns out.
75. People who are wrong seem to talk louder than anyone else.
86. There aren't many times in your life when your body has absolutely nothing wrong with it.
92. It's lucky glass makes a loud noise when it breaks.

This Commercial

http://www.youtube.com/user/googlechrome?v=R4vkVHijdQk&feature=pyv&ad=7411163457&kw=%2Bchrome

If you haven't seen this google chrome commercial where a dad creates an account to keep memories for his daughter to be able to look at one day, please do.  Right now.  It's so cute.  It doesn't hurt that the kid is the cutest.  I'm strongly considering stealing this idea- I'm sure I won't be the first.

Sweet Tea

I try to drink it as little as possible because the calories are just unnecessary but it's just so good.

But that lemon's got to go.

Green

I love the color green.  Good old crayola crayon green.  My favorite color was always baby blue or pink and I think I had a stretch where my favorite color was orange... we don't ask.  But I remember exactly when green became my favorite color.  Now, let's not pretend I'm an outdoorsy kinda girl but... it did happen outside.  So my boyfriend at the time (my husband now) treated me to an anniversary picnic.  He went from Mebane to Graham to get my favorite fast food meal- Arby's number one in case you were wondering- and came back to Mebane to pick me up.  He put the food in the trunk so I couldn't smell it and he blindfolded me so I had no idea where I was going.  I don't remember if he blindfolded me or if I wasn't allowed to look- I'm pretty sure it was the latter.  Anyways, when we got there he let me open my eyes and we were at the Burlington park and it was a beautiful day.  We had our roast beef sandwiches and then we went for a walk and we were sitting on a blanket afterwards and I was just so happy and I was looking around and the grass and the trees were just beautiful on this May 13th and I just had never looked at the outside world the way I did that day because I'm always staying outside as little as possible.  From there, my wedding colors were pink and green and our apartment was decorated with green, blue and brown.  Oh and the room I'm sitting in right now- when my parents had it painted we didn't know yet that I would be moving to Florida right after graduation so I got to pick the color- it's green.
